On June 18, following his Miami concert a few days earlier, Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York, for driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Timberlake’s viral comment during the arrest, “This is going to ruin the tour . . . the world tour,” wasn’t entirely accurate. The “SexyBack” singer continued his tour as scheduled, including a concert in Chicago on June 21, where he addressed the arrest.
Later, Timberlake pleaded guilty to impaired driving during his September 13th hearing.
“I try to hold myself to a very high standard, and this was not that,” Timberlake told the news media outside the courthouse, as reported by The Associated Press.
“This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have.”
